There has been a lot of hype and confusion around all of the recent Apple mandatory updates. My recommendation is always to not delay such updates since such updates could include patches to critical vulnerabilities. As details came out about the recent updates, it was disclosed that indeed critical vulnerabilities were being addressed. The good news is if you have installed such updates, the threats have been handled.
