Mitre lost funding for its CVE program leading to major concerns. One example quote from Mitre’s VPN to summarize the risk is the following:
“If a break in services were to occur, we anticipate multiple impacts to CVE, including deterioration of national vulnerability databases and advisories, tool vendors, incident response operations and all manner of critical infrastructure,” said the letter, signed by Yosry Barsoum, a Mitre vice president and director.
Govinfosecurity posted about this HERE. Maybe a new organization will pick up this work but as of now, there isn’t a clear next step.
